Monday night it was brought to my attention that the District 428 Advisory Panel was talking about paying NIU $1.00 and then spending $30 Million to add on and remodel the building. Yada, yada, yada. When I heard this I fell off my chair. How wasteful and disrespectful to the tax payers could the School Board be. Where did this money come from? This money is coming from the Federal Government IE COVID Money. The Federal Government has been giving Billions of dollars to the States to do stupid things like this. Why doesn't District 428 take the free money from Biden and pay down the school debt? Prepay debt! How Novel. Don't forget if District 428 pays down school debt, taxes will go down and will make DeKalb more affordable and desirable place to live. Why didn't the school board think of that? You tell me. There is no reason for district 428 to ever build another building in DeKalb. NIU has millions of square feet of classroom and dormitory space that is unused and available.
